GENERAL

These may be named after the Odisha Sahitya Akademi

1. Head Office

The headquarters of the akademi will be in Bhubaneswar where the records of the akademi will be kept and offices and officers will work.

2. Organizations and activities

Committee on the Organization and Functions of the Akademi - As defined in clause 2 of the Memorandum

3. Officers of the Akademi

  • Committee - The Chairman shall be appointed in accordance with the provisions of clause 4 (1) of the Memorandum.

  • The President may resign his office by a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Akademi and the resignation shall take effect from the date of its acceptance by the Secretary.

  • The President may be removed from office by order of the State Government published in the official Gazette and the State Government may call upon the President to show cause against his removal before such order is issued.

  • The General Council may, by a resolution passed by a majority of not less than two-thirds of the total number of members, recommend to the State Government to remove the Chairman from his office on the ground of misconduct or contravention of the provisions of the Memorandum of Association, but such notice of resolution shall reach the Secretary with the signature of not less than five members of the General Council.

  • The work of the President is unpaid but his secretarial and other assistance may be provided as per the time schedule of the Executive Council.

  • The procedure of appointment of the Vice-President and his registration and preparation for the office of the President shall be the same as under the rules, although the Vice-President may resign from his office by a letter addressed to the President under his handwriting.

4. Treasurer-cum-Finance Advisor

  • The State Government shall appoint a Treasurer-cum-Finance Vice-President of the Akademi who shall hold office for such period as may be determined by the State Government.

  • It shall be the duty of the Treasurer-cum-Advisor to prepare the budget and present it to the Finance Committee by 1st November of every year and thereafter to place the recommendations of the Finance Committee before the Executive Council at the earliest before 15th November of every year and before 15th December of every year before the General Council.
